New to acupuncture

Your body has been trying
to tell you something.

It starts as a whisper. Then it talks louder. Eventually it goes on strike. Most people arrive here somewhere in the middle of that — and what they want first isn't a treatment, it's to be understood.

What brings people to us

You probably didn't come here looking for acupuncture.

You came because something isn't right, and you'd like it to stop. These are the things people most often bring us.

  • Back and neck pain

The ache you've started planning your day around.

  • Sciatica

That line of pain down the leg that turns sitting into a negotiation.

  • Headaches and migraines

Knowing by mid-morning what kind of day it's going to be.

  • Stress, anxiety, and burnout

Running on adrenaline so long you've forgotten what rested feels like.

  • Fatigue and low energy

Sleeping the hours and still waking up empty.

  • Digestive issues

Planning meals around what your body will tolerate today.

  • Fertility support

  • Women's health

  • Sports injuries and recovery

Wanting to train again without paying for it for three days.

  • Immune support

Catching whatever goes round, and keeping it longer than everyone else.

  • Chronic pain

Being told the scans look fine while you still hurt.

  • Healthy aging, mobility, and wellness

Wanting the next twenty years to feel like the last twenty.

Not sure whether we're the right fit? That's what the first conversation is for — and if we can't help, we'll say so and point you somewhere that can.

How we work it out

Symptoms are the message. We're after the sender.

Your life story affects your body's health. Gradually it becomes more and more out of balance — until it starts talking to you loudly enough that you finally pay attention. Our job is to understand your particular story, and how it has shaped where you are now.

To do that we use both modern science and traditional diagnosis methods, including tongue and pulse diagnosis. You'll leave understanding why your body is talking to you, what's underneath the symptoms, and what we'd do about both.

Change begins with the very first treatment.

What makes this different

We'll tell you if we can't help.

Within your first two sessions we'll know whether we can help you reach your health goals through acupuncture. If we can't, we'll be glad to refer you to other care options.

We've been clinicians a long time. The point of this practice isn't to sell appointments — it's long-term health, which sometimes means sending someone somewhere else.

Before your first visit

The questions we hear most.

If yours isn't here, ask when you book — we'd rather you had a clear picture beforehand than wondered during it.

What actually happens in the first two sessions?

The first is a consultation and assessment — your history, what you're feeling, what you've already tried, and what you want to get back to. The second is your treatment plan plus your first acupuncture treatment. By the end of the two, you'll understand what your symptoms are pointing at and what we'd suggest doing about it.

Why do the two sessions need to be within seven days?

Because the gap between them tells us something. Seeing how your body responds in that window is how we understand your rate of healing — which is what the treatment plan is built around.

What if acupuncture isn't the right answer for me?

Then we'll say so. Within those two sessions we'll know whether we can help you meet your goals through acupuncture, and if we can't, we'll happily refer you to other care options. We'd rather send you to the right place than keep you in the wrong one.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most patients describe it as a faint pinprick or no sensation at all. Acupuncture needles are about the diameter of a human hair — very different from the medical needles used for injections or blood draws.

How do you work out what's going on?

We use both modern science and traditional diagnosis methods, including tongue and pulse diagnosis. The aim isn't just to name the symptom — it's to understand the cause underneath it, and your story is a large part of that.

Will I be told to change my whole life?

No. The treatment plan usually includes some lifestyle, nutritional or herbal and behavioural changes, but they're introduced one step at a time and built around what's realistic for you.

Book your visit

A first visit takes one conversation.

We'll talk through what you're feeling, what you've tried, and which modality fits. New patients are welcome.
